Public Programmes Officer

Do you have a passion for ensuring that people receive a high quality and informative experience when visiting your organisation?
Using your marketing, promotions or sales experience in this role you will be responsible for the research, design and delivery of Museum programmes and related activities. Your experience in a hands-on front line role in museums, the tourism sector or related visitor services industry, along with experience with visitor quality management systems such as Qualmark will be essential. As the successful applicant will manage a small team, a hands on can do attitude is essential, with the ability to deliver programmes to groups of various ages including children. Your financial management experience that includes meeting sales targets and managing budgets will be vital, along with your competence with survey development and analysis.
In this role you will also be responsible for a team of people that will include up to sixty volunteers therefore, your experience in managing staff and volunteers will be essential, along with your understanding of public safety requirements.
If you also have at least three years experience in a sole charge or supervisory role in a tourism facility, museum or other public programming role, we would like to hear from you.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:
Low level Security Clearance
- a NZ citizen who hasresided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
- is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

ATTTO is currently recruiting experts from the museums sector to become assessors across the North Island. The National Certificate in Museum Practice is a workplace qualification where trainees align this training to their current workplace
A workplace assessor is a subject matter expert who holds a position of authority and responsibly in the workplace. The overall responsibility of an assessor is to conduct assessments and make objective assessment decisions regarding a trainee’s competency.
Workplace assessors must undergo specialised training and are assessed against unit standard 4098 (use standards to assess candidate’s performance). As part of our drive to increase our pool of museum specific assessors we will be providing this training free of charge to those who meet the criteria.
The Aviation, Tourism and Travel Training Organisation (ATTTO) is New Zealand's Industry Training Organisation (ITO) for the travel, tourism, aviation and museums sectors.
As an ITO, we represent the national training needs of the industries we support and provide industry leadership in the areas of training and workforce development. We also promote the careers on offer across our diverse and exciting industries.
This is a contract role and assessing will be on a needs as basis, additional to the role you currently hold in your workplace. Payment will be on a per assessment basis and you may need to undertake some travel from time to time.
