Exceptional chance for a commercially driven lover of the visual arts, to develop and manage the Auckland Art Gallery retail shop.
We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Retail Manager with a keen interest in the visual arts and design, to manage our flagship retail shop. Based in new, state-of-the-art facilities your role will be to manage and develop the retail operations of the Auckland Art Gallery Shop as a business profit centre.
You will be responsible for the overall management of gallery shop activities. This will include the ongoing development of an appropriate product mix and retail pricing structure to optimise business performance, and ensuring visitors enjoy consistently high quality customer service in their retail experience.
We are looking for someone with proven management capabilities who has the determination to ensure the success of our shop. You will be dedicated, a forward thinker and highly skilled in business planning, merchandising and developing effective relationships.
To be successful in this position you will have:
- Ability to understand the Gallery environment and vision and translate that into an innovative strategy for the retail operation
- Proven staff management experience and ability to motivate staff
- Proven experience in stock purchasing, development of high end merchandising, margin control and pricing and the building and maintaining of relationships with local artists
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office applications and Advanced Retail Point of Sale system
Occasional weekend work and non-standard hours will be required.
