REGISTRAR / ASSISTANT REGISTRAR

SOUTHLAND MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY

There is no better time to become involved with the Southland Museum and Art Gallery as we fi nalise plans for a major redevelopment of the facility. The Southland Museum and Art Gallery is the cultural hub of Southland - preserving the heritage of the region. Our exhibitions, historical and contemporary, are sourced from Southland and beyond. We’ve also a world renowned tuatara colony!

This role is ideal for either an experienced Registrar, or for someone looking for a chance to get a foot in the door, as an Assistant Registrar under the guidance of our expert team.

You’ll manage the care of our extensive collections and will continue to develop the collection database in line with standard museum practices and legislation. In addition you’ll oversee the implementation and enhancement of physical systems that will ensure the safe keeping of the collections, and which will maintain the Southland Museum and Art Gallery as a qualifi ed exhibition venue.

Experience within a gallery or museum is desirable as is a qualifi cation in Museum Studies. Perhaps though you’re looking for a change in direction and have a background in warehousing or logistics and an interest in things cultural? You’ll find all the support here to make that career change.
