Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Puna o Waiwhetū

Christchurch Art Gallery, Te Puna o Waiwhetū, is an iconic building within the heart of the city and home to one of New Zealand's most significant public art collections. Te Puna o Waiwhetū relates to the life-giving properties of the artesian spring on which the Gallery is built and our role in contributing to the cultural wellbeing of the community.

Your role is to develop and implement a high quality meaningful education programme to inspire and enhance student creativity and self-expression from primary school to tertiary level and beyond.

Each day will see you running curriculum-linked lessons for school children involving a chosen exhibition within the Art Gallery including a tour of the exhibit and running a practical and interactive lesson based on it. At other times you'll be kept busy developing and contributing to educational resources and collaborating with other staff with gallery education programmes and visitor experiences.

You'll have great interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate to audiences of all age ranges and demonstrated positive attitudes to Te Reo Māori and Tikanga Māori which will be evident in your teaching and learning resources.

With a teaching qualification and ideally at least three years recent formal teaching experience in New Zealand with current full registration and practising certificate, you'll maintain close working relationships with teachers and others in the Education community.

This is a great opportunity to refocus your career or give it a new lease of life and combine your passion for teaching and art, working within an inclusive, supportive and collaborative culture.
