Selwyn District Council
We are ready to appoint an outstanding arts professional to help us plan and deliver an active arts programme at Te Ara Ātea - our new, 2,200m2 library, arts, and heritage facility in Rolleston - which will open in November 2021. Te Ara Ātea , the ‘unobstructed trail to the world and beyond', will be a place for learning, gathering, connecting, exploring and celebrating Selwyn district's identity and people.
You will work to deliver an arts experience in time for the opening, and develop an ongoing annual arts programme that activates Te Ara Ātea through exhibition, public programming, and participation.
This role sits within Selwyn Council's Arts, Culture and Lifelong Learning (ACLL) team and provides an incredible opportunity for a talented arts professional to build an arts experience from the ground up, in a dynamic multi-purpose facility.
ACLL - which looks after libraries (including the Edge Connector Vehicle outreach service and the Digital Library), service centres (Council services and information), arts, culture and lifelong learning programmes - is busy developing services and delivering programmes and experiences to meet the expectations of the rapidly growing Selwyn population.
Our ideal candidate will champion the importance of accessible arts and cultural experiences within local communities, have experience working within the arts and culture sector, show curatorial and creative initiative, and be able to build strong relationships and strategic partnerships with arts stakeholders, mana whenua, education providers, and arts institutions. If that sounds like you, and you're ready to make your mark on an exciting new facility, apply today to join us!
