Two full-time permanent positions vacant
Join a creative team with a passion for bringing art and Manawatū heritage to life
Te Manawa Museum of Art, Science and Heritage is looking for two Exhibition Technicians with the skills and energy to help us develop and install stunning exhibition experiences for a wide range of audiences with the use of bespoke design and build, lighting, and multi-media platforms.
Reporting to the Production Manager you will be preparing exhibition spaces prior to installation and installing and deinstalling exhibition objects and experiences. You will be fabricating unique object mounts and furniture, and your knowledge of museum lighting standards and techniques, and experience with sourcing and installing audio visual components will enable you to assemble and create engaging, thought-provoking and beautiful exhibitions.
Your ability to identify and resolve a range of technical challenges and your eye for detail will ensure that your input to design offers pragmatic solutions that can be fabricated or assembled to an excellent standard. You’ll be methodical and well-organised, with efficient planning skills ensuring exhibition installation and deinstallation occurs in a timely manner. You will have the initiative to work autonomously with minimal supervision, and effective communication and a ‘can-do’ attitude will be essential in this role.
We would love to hear from you if you have a passion for creating and bringing projects together, enjoy a unique challenge, hold a relevant trade qualification and have experience and / or a minimum 3 years work experience in a similar technical role in a museum environment. A current NZ driver’s licence is essential and a forklift license desirable.
Engaging more than 100,000 visitors every year, Te Manawa Museums Trust is a charitable trust operating with primary support from Palmerston North City Council.
