Te wero - The Challenge

Our Museum Curator is taking a sabbatical and the Far North Regional Museum Trust and Far North District Council are seeking a Museum Curator to fill her shoes for a period of 6 months. The Museum is based in Te Ahu, Kaitaia and the hours of work will be full time, five days per week.

Te Ahu is a multi-functional community facility incorporating not only the Museum but also the Council customer service centre, visitor i-SITE, library, cafe, venues for hire and Cinema, delivering a number of services from a small team focused on high performance and community engagement.

I ā koe - About You

To be successful in this position, and as an active team member of Te Ahu, you will need:

Tertiary qualification in Museum, Information or Library studies or similar

  • Administrative experience and skills in a museum environment
  • First class customer service values to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Well-developed documentation, writing and report skills
  • Awareness of bi-cultural matters and issues as they apply to the museum sector and
  • Knowledge of the culture and history of the Far North would be an advantage.

The salary for this position is Grade 14 within Council's salary structure ($64,962 - 76,426 per annum pro-rata) dependent on qualifications and experience, plus Kiwi Saver.
