Ngā Taonga is the audiovisual archive for Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re a Charitable Trust committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and being a kaupapa-centered organisation that recognises that there are multiple world views. The 70+ staff who work for us are passionate about caring for and sharing the precious taonga in the collections and their role in ensuring all New Zealanders, including future generations, will be able to know their history and connect with their cultural identity.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join Ngā Taonga as we’re currently undertaking some significant multi-agency projects. An integral part of this journey is the role of Poutaki Mātauranga Māori - Manager Mātauranga Māori Outreach.

The Role

We are looking for a Poutaki Mātauranga Māori - Manager Mātauranga Māori Outreach to lead our Mātauranga Māori Outreach Team which is part of the Archive’s Share & Promote Group. The Share & Promote Group is primarily responsible for sharing our collection and telling our story as an audiovisual archive. It also manages staff communications and engagement as well as the external brand image. The group includes Marketing and Communications, Public Programmes, Customer Supply and the Mātauranga Māori Outreach Team. The Mātauranga Māori Outreach Team works collaboratively across the Share & Promote Group and the wider organisation to provide mātauranga Māori expertise. The Mātauranga Māori Outreach Team promotes the Taonga Māori collection as a source of reo-ā-iwi and mātauranga-ā-iwi excellence. The Mātauranga Māori Outreach Team engages with iwi Māori to facilitate manaakitanga and access to their taonga, directly and via third parties.
