Programme and Outreach Lead 

The role

The role of Programme and Outreach Lead is a newly established permanent 40-hour-per-week role that manages the team who deliver all lifelong learning activities and programmes across the district. Our team deliver these programmes across a districtwide network of Libraries/Service Centres and the Edge Connector outreach Service.

Rewarding and people focused this role is a great mix of leadership, operational delivery and collaboration. You will build positive relationships with external providers including educators and agencies to plan engaging and relevant activities ensuring our programmes remain accessible and relevant.

The Community Services & Facilities Group is externally facing group of Selwyn District Council that facilitates and delivers community opportunities, experiences, services, and programmes to build the capacity, connection, and overall well-being of the community. This is achieved through services and programmes including aquatics, arts, culture and lifelong learning, community and economic development activities, community centres and halls, events, funding, libraries/service centres, and sports and fitness activities.

About you

Our ideal candidate must have worked in the GLAM section (Galleries, Libraries, Museums, Archives) or within the education sector. Ideally you will have around 5 years leadership or coaching experience and be confident operating in the programming and activities space. A positive and collaborative team member you will be a natural at establishing and developing meaningful relationships. An understanding of public library programming as well as knowledge surrounding the Māori as Tangata Whenua and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and understanding of the implications of the Te Tiriti for Council would be beneficial.
