The city is in a strong financial position, undergoing the biggest resurgence in its 166-year history and is committed to key initiatives including the CBD redevelopment and other significant community and infrastructure investments during the coming years.
The Council operations are undergoing transformation with a new organisational structure to support these changes. The objective being to deliver council services to a better standard, more quickly and more affordably to ratepayers. A number of new positions arise from these changes and offer the unique opportunity to be in the vanguard of changes to local government service delivery.
Reporting to the Group Manager Leisure and Recreation and leading a team of ten, this exciting new senior role has been created to champion and ‘lead the charge’ on ICC’s commitment to the growth of arts and culture in the city. You will be responsible for leading strategic development of this asset portfolio and related services, as well as the day-to-day operational management of the current Museum and Arts and Culture activities; including the Southland Museum and Art Gallery relocation and redevelopment projects to more permanent locations; and He Waka Tuia, the collaborative transitional museum and gallery space with Invercargill Public Art Gallery (IPAG).
Desirable candidates will be politically savvy with a background managing a museum or art gallery, developing people-centred services/systems and experience with relevant brownfield redevelopment projects is desirable.
You will be driven, passionate, decisive and resilient and will have the confidence to ‘be the voice’ of this project and bring it to life. Essential to success is proven experience with strategic planning, public speaking, strong change leadership capability and a track record of building positive stakeholder and community-based relationships.
