Would you like to be the smiling and friendly face that greets people to He Waka Tuia?

He Waka Tuia is an innovative and vibrant art + museum space developed as collaboration between the Invercargill Public Art Gallery and the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. We are looking for two engaging and upbeat people with experience in public engagement and a love of arts, culture and heritage. One position is 32 hours a week and the other is 18 hours a week. Both positions include one weekend day. 

Our Public Engagement Co-ordinators will be the face of He Waka Tuia. As the first point of contact, they will provide friendly and helpful information about the space and its exhibitions, while ensuring that all visitors receive a consistently high standard of care. The successful candidates will play a key role in the team by providing social media and administrative support for exhibitions and public programming. As the eyes and ears of the space, they will be expected to keep the space clean, tidy and inviting to visitors, while providing a security presence.

Our Public Engagement Co-ordinators will be comfortable with interacting and understanding the needs of visitors from many different backgrounds. Knowledge of Te Reo Māori and tikanga would be an advantage.

Excellent computer literacy skills and an eye for detail are a must and as well as being available to work set days each week. Some evening and public holiday work will also be required.
