Public Programmes & Events Coordinator 

Napier 

Permanent, 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday, occasional evenings and weekends required)

Due to internal movement, MTG Hawke's Bay has a vacancy for a Public Programmes & Events Coordinator who will oversee venue hire, the development of programmes to support our exhibition schedule, key community milestones and other MTG events. You will be responsible for delivering a wide range of events and programmes that engage our audience and support our mission. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a significant contribution to our organisation and shape the future of our commercial hire and public engagement activities.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage venue hire and commercial events, including actively promoting MTG as a premier venue
  • Develop and deliver a range of events and programmes that engage our audience and support our mission
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of events and programmes, from concept to delivery and evaluation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including external partners and suppliers
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure a cohesive approach to public engagement activities
  • Use data and feedback to continually improve the quality and impact of our events and programmes

Key requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience in coordinating and delivering public programmes and events
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability negotiate with our key sponsors and clients and build strong relationships with all stakeholders
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a track record of developing innovative events and programmes

This is a permanent, full time role (40 hours per week). As you can imagine, events are not generally held Monday to Friday, so some flexibility in working hours and days is required.
