Invercargill City Council
It's an exciting time to be in Invercargill and join a future focused Council.
Waihōpai Invercargill is New Zealand's southernmost city and the heart and hub of Southland. We're known for our lush green spaces like Queens Park, our long summer daylight hours and our local legend Burt Munro.
Our city has character, charm and a laidback atmosphere. There's outstanding nature reserves, Ōreti Beach, the Waihōpai River, a lively restaurant scene and a sensible gridded layout with wide streets and a 10-minute drive to work.
We are looking for a dynamic, accomplished individual to serve as Team Leader - Operations.
In 2022 Invercargill City Council confirmed an ambitious programme of works for the development of a new storage facility for the collections of the Southland Museum & Art Gallery, as well as the development of Te Unua - a new museum and art gallery project for Invercargill and Murihiku.
The collections origins can be traced back to the late 1860's, and following the establishment of the Invercargill Athenaeum there has been an ongoing commitment by the community to support the establishment of a regional focused facility in Invercargill which showcases the stories of Invercargill, Southland, Murihiku, Fiordland and the Sub-Antarctic Islands for current and future generations.
The successful candidate for this post will be capable of supporting the management and improving all aspects of the Museum and Art Galleries operations while also providing an important deputising role to the Manager, Museum & Heritage Services.
The successful candidate will likely have experience in the field of not-for-profit management, be entrepreneurial, be familiar with business finance, and will be expected to contribute to marketing, development, and collections management activities, including the relocation of the collections to the new storage facility.
If you are looking for an opportunity where you will not only contribute to the improvement of our region but also make a real-life difference to the community, then apply today.
At Invercargill City Council we pride ourselves on our values - positivity, respect, responsibility and above and beyond. Finding the right fit for our team is really important to us and we work hard to provide an environment reflective of these values.
