MOTAT

Visitor Experience Developer – Mātauranga Māori

Are you our next Visitor Experience Developer? Do you bring a Māori worldview to your mahi? Want to join a dedicated and passionate team?

MOTAT is an interactive museum with a focus on creating a fun, visually stimulating environment for our visitors. It is home to a unique mix of collections and experiences and our vision is to educate and inspire the innovators of tomorrow. This is an exciting time to join a team with a huge amount of experience and enthusiasm to position MOTAT as a ‘must experience’ venue here in Tāmaki Makaurau.

About the role

Embracing a Māori worldview, our Visitor Experience Developer – Mātauranga Māori will take the lead on the development and delivery of our visitor experiences from a mātauranga Māori perspective. With a natural ability to walk in two worlds, you will be someone who thrives in an environment where our visitors are at the forefront of what we do, and where we aim to attract a diverse audience through the successful delivery of our vibrant and interactive visitor experiences. This is an exciting time to join a team with a huge amount of experience and enthusiasm to position MOTAT as a ‘must experience’ venue here in Tāmaki Makaurau.

This is a full-time role, with the benefit of flexible working hours and the ability to work a portion of hours from home each week.

About you

Ultimately, you are you, and we appreciate that everyone brings different strengths to the team. We want you to bring your unique flair to your work, acknowledging that we all come from different backgrounds, previous work contexts, and areas of expertise. We want you to tell us about yourself and the knowledge you bring when it comes to co-developing visitor experiences from a Māori worldview. You will bring a solid understanding of Mātauranga Māori and Tikanga Māori coupled with the ability to take an inclusive and collaborative approach to your work and excellent relationship building skills. A foundational knowledge of Te Reo Māori is a requirement of the role, and if you have a higher level of fluency that would be a huge advantage. Ideally you will have built these skills in the GLAM sector, however as long as you can demonstrate an understanding of public programming and museum practices, that’s all we need!
