Thames School of Mines

Thames School of Mines – Ref:  131
Visitor Services Coordinator
Full time or job share (please note this is a readvertised position)

Thames School of Mines is part of a national suite of historic properties managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. We are one of the Coromandel Peninsula’s high profile heritage sites and a popular visitor attraction. We are looking for a ‘people person’ with effective leadership skills.

Reporting to the Property Lead, this role is varied and interesting. Social media is an important part of this role as is developing public programmes and coordinating functions. Bring your museums experience of greeting visitors, tour guiding, and working with school groups.

Gold mining made this part of the Coromandel into a boom town and Thames School of Mines reflects the history, science, and industry of the area. The Thames School of Mines buildings are the largest and most complete School of Mines in New Zealand, and the site has significance to Māori and Pakeha.

The role includes working at least one weekend day on a regular basis. Ideally the suitable applicant will have previously worked at a supervisor level and have training and/or experience in a heritage, customer service or tourism related role. If you are a clear communicator and can provide positive leadership to our talented team this role is for you! Please indicate in your cover letter whether your preference is full time or job share.

You must have a vaccine passport to be eligible for these positions.
