Thames School of Mines
Visitor Services Coordinator
Full time or job share

Thames School of Mines is part of a national suite of historic properties managed by Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga. We are one of the Coromandel Peninsula’s high profile heritage sites and a popular visitor attraction. We are looking for a ‘people person’ with effective leadership skills.

Reporting to the Property Lead, this role is varied and interesting and involves greeting visitors, tour guiding, working with school groups, management and promotion for functions and events, providing retail support, championing social media, and assisting with administration.

Gold mining made this part of the Coromandel into a boom town and Thames School of Mines reflects the history, science, and industry of the area. The Thames School of Mines buildings are the largest and most complete School of Mines in New Zealand, and the site has significance to Māori and Pakeha.

The role includes working at weekends on a regular basis. The suitable applicant will have training and/or experience in a heritage, customer service or tourism related role and will be hands-on and practical. If you are a good communicator and enthusiastic about working in an ever-evolving environment, this role is for you!

You must have a vaccine passport to be eligible for these positions.

Applications close at 5pm on Sunday 26th June 2022.
