Built in 1881, Rai Valley Cottage is believed to be the earliest surviving European dwelling in the area. Constructed in a small clearing out of totara slab by the Turner family, the open farm land surrounding it now, belies the isolation the family endured. The intriguing collection of household chattels provides a glimpse of a family life much simpler than we lead today.
