The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) are setting the regulations around the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017 and are proposing to remove the exemption the GLAM sector has for the levy on the value of collections. DIA have asked Museums Aotearoa (MA) to provide a position on this proposal as it is a targeted consultation rather than a public one.
 
MA opposes this proposal has made a submission arguing the exemption should be made permanent in the Act and its regulations. The medium-to-large members of MA have contributed to the submission and expressed their support for it.
