Public consultation on Fire and Emergency Act 2017 Amendment Bill
Department of Internal Affairs has been running the consultation process regarding the proposal to remove the exemption for FENZ levies on collections. MA made a submission on behalf of members to that consultation process in August 2022. The exemption was due to expire 30 June 2024 but that has now been pushed out to 30 June 2026.
An Amendment Bill to the Fire and Emergency Act 2017 is now open for public consultation.
While exemptions to collections are not part of this amendment, MA will take the opportunity to make a submission to this process that the exemption is made permanent as part of the Bill. You can participate in the public consultation process via the New Zealand Parliament website until 25 October if you wish.
You may like to use MA’s submission from 6 October 2022, as a guide or very simply submit a letter saying you support MA’s submission.
