Project Assistant Archivist - Special Collections, Library & Lending Services

About the role
We are looking for a mid-level archivist to support the consolidation of our architecture collection. Working alongside our Senior Archivist who is a specialist in architectural collections, you will work through a large and unprocessed collection including drawings and plans by some of New Zealand's premier Architects and of some of our most iconic buildings. This will involve a full cycle of processing, from ordering and describing the items to preparing entries in our database to maximise the visibility and discoverability of these exceptional items.
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who is interested in architectural collections to gain exposure to our collection and this unique set of archival language, working alongside a specialist in this area.
Our ideal candidate:
- Archivist experience, ideally in a library setting, but commercial or museum experience is also valuable
- Able to work independently, under the guidance of our Senior Archivist
- Knowledge of archival management and the academic library environment
- A Master of Information Studies or other formal archival qualification would be beneficial but not essential provided you have a good level of experience
